Which denomination is Trinity? Trinity Church is a member of the Diocese of Massachusetts in the Episcopal Church in America, part of the world-wide Anglican Communion. Those worshipping at Trinity come from a broad range of denominations and faith experiences. All are welcome. Am I welcome at the Eucharist? All baptized persons - regardless of denomination - are invited to participate in Eucharist or Holy Communion. Those not baptized or who choose not to receive communion are invited to come to the altar during communion to receive a blessing. To learn more, please click here. How do I become a member? While everyone is welcome to worship, participate in Trinity Church programs and ministries, and consider Trinity his or her spiritual home, there are certain requirements that must be fulfilled to satisfy the official definition of a member of Trinity Church. To learn more, please click here. Can we have our child baptized at Trinity? Holy Baptism for infants and young children is held approximately once a month as part of a public service of Holy Eucharist. Adults are usually baptized as part of the Great Vigil for Easter on the Saturday evening before Easter Day. To learn more, please click here. I'd like to have my wedding at Trinity. What do I need to know? To be married at Trinity, one person in the couple must be a parishioner or an immediate family member of a parishioner. Children and youth are considered full members of the parish community at Trinity. They are encouraged to participate in worship including communion and the full range of parish activities. Age-appropriate classes and programs include some of the most engaging curriculum in use in the Episcopal Church today, including Godly Play and Journey to Adulthood. Trinity Church is universally accessible. A ramp into the church and Parish House is located at the corner of St. James Street and Clarendon Street, and certain areas of the church are specifically designated for wheelchair seating. Please contact the church with particular questions or concerns. What is there for tourists at Trinity? Trinity's Visitor Programs hosts daily self-guided tours and tours offered by trained guides. All those visiting the church as tourists are asked to pay a modest fee in The Shop at Trinity to help with care and maintenance of this historic landmark building. Custom and group tours may be arranged. The Shop at Trinity is a great resource for spiritual gifts and books, as well as books developed from Trinity's art and architecture. Parishioners and those seeking solace, prayer or meditation are invited directly into the church and are not asked to contribute. The church is open for all to join in Sunday worship and one-half hour before other worship services and the Friday noontime organ concert. For those who wish to visit the church to view the art and architecture, a small fee allows us to keep the church open and secure seven days a week. All of the net proceeds from tours and The Shop at Trinity also help support parish ministries, and building preservation and upkeep.
I'm doing genealogical or other research, what sort of archival records does Trinity have? The Massachusetts Historical Society has records of Trinity Church before the late 19th century.
