Silhouettes and Shadows: A Song Recital of New Music

Staff singers Julia Cavallaro (mezzo-soprano) and Lawson Daves (baritone), accompanied by pianists Stephanie Mao, Rodney Lister and John McDonald, present a recital of new works by New England composers exploring themes of loss, remembrance, and redemption. Repertoire will include John Musto's "Shadow of the Blues," which sets the vivid and stirring poetry of Langston Hughes, and "Three Impressions of The Dead" by Michael McLaughlin, which takes its text from James Joyce's famous and poignant short story "The Dead." Other composers include Rodney Lister and John McDonald, also local to the Boston area.
