Joan Malone

Welcome from Arville Stephen, Clinical Director of the Trinity Boston Counseling Center
Welcome! The Trinity Boston Counseling Center (TBCC), located at the Rectory at 233 Clarendon St., one block north of Trinity Church in Copley Square, serves hundreds of individuals each year through its powerful approach of providing mental health therapy in the context of faith.

"This work is what Jesus would do."
Ron Akie, TBCC Advisory Committee

Financially supported by Trinity Church and many area foundations and donors, the Center's client services are offered on a sliding scale, so those who would otherwise not be able to afford care may be served, as well as those able to pay. Volunteer counselors and licensed therapists, many from the Trinity community, are carefully trained in the integration of faith and psychotherapy in conjunction with area academic institutions, including Boston University and the Simmons School of Social Work.

"This work embodies the core of Trinity's mission, working with a key constituency of need in the City."
Ron Geddes, TBCC Advisory Committee

The Center opened in 2002 following careful study and needs assessment. Since then, several dozen therapists have served more than four hundred individuals seeking mental health services in which faith is an integral part of their care. The Center's work has become widely known throughout Boston, resulting in invitations to partner with the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services (juvenile corrections), Boston Public Schools, and churches and faith organizations throughout the Boston area.

"What we're doing is not helping or leading, it's accompanying someone along their journey, along their path to become more like what God had in mind when they were created."

"This is transformational work. I think it's the work that may change our souls, I can feel it. I now know this ineffable thing called Spirit... I see God in my clients. This work is something that I'm giving to God; being present. That's what I have to offer."

"A place to consider a relationship with God."

"The Counseling Center is a source of hope where difference is embraced... an example of the Kingdom of God."
