MAAFA

Each September*, a group of Trinity parishioners, along with some of our community and interfaith neighbors, makes an annual pilgrimage to the Maafa Suite at the St. Paul Community Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY, the church of The Rev. Dr. Johnny Ray Youngblood. The Maafa Suite is a portrayal of the horrifying slavery experience of Africans brought to America against their will and is a commemoration of their lives. It is a sacred psychodrama and historical theater experience that provides an opportunity to deepen understanding and healing in our communities. For more information, please contact Constance Perry, or visit their official website.

*Please note that there will be no Maafa Suite in 2007. St. Paul's plans to rest and regroup and hopefully be back again in 2008.
