Journey to Adulthood

Our youth program is divided into three different age groups. Each group has its own team of adult mentors, its own Sunday morning classes during the 10:15 am education hour, its own gathering space, community-building retreats, outreach opportunities, and various special events. Each group endeavors to create and sustain a Christian community where youth can feel free to explore the many physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges they face during adolescence.

The Journey to Adulthood is a complete youth ministry program of spiritual formation for 6th-12th grades. It uses Bible study, prayer, rites of passage, outreach ministries, and both serious and playful activities to offer a deep and rich base for the formation of young adult Christians in the church. The program is divided into three two-year segments with Confirmation offered at the end of year four. Each group meets on Sunday mornings from 10:15 to 11:00 am.

Rite-13: Grades 7 & 8
Rite-13 focuses on celebrating the individuality of each young person and their creative potential. The program helps youth explore the many facets of adolescence and offers a chance to discover how faith can guide and shape the journey to adulthood. The Rite-13 program prepares youth for a special service of affirmation, The Rite-13 Liturgy, which formally marks and celebrates in a worship service each youth's entrance into the journey to adulthood. For more information, please contact Jen Close.

J2A (Journey to Adulthood): Grades 9 & 10
J2A, the middle portion of the program, engages youth with the skills and critical thinking involved in adulthood. The youth plan and embark on a Honduras pilgrimage/mission together at the end of this segment. Over four semesters, these youth explore how their faith relates to self-esteem, society, sexuality, and spirituality. The J2A program also begins to build the foundation for the sacrament of Confirmation, which takes place at the end of the second year of J2A. For more information, please contact Judith Cowart.

YAC (Young Adults in Church): Grades 11 & 12
YAC is a mentor-based program designed to help older teens discern and carry out a ministry within their church and in the larger community. The program helps youth explore their vocational/career interests and develop a set of personal fundamental values and beliefs. YAC challenges young people after Confirmation to deepen their faith and their connection to their faith community. Young people are invited and encouraged to explore ways to become involved in the life and ministry of our parish beyond the youth program. For more information please contact Sarah Bieging.

Parent Ministry
There are a wide variety of events and gatherings planned for the parents of our Trinity youth. There are speakers, dinners, and opportunities to gather for fellowship throughout the year. Raising Christian children today is a challenging venture and the parent's group comes together to support one another around all of the ups and downs of having teenagers. For more information about our parent group please contact Chris Devany.

Diocese of Massachusetts Youth

The youth ministries office at the Diocese of Massachusetts offers great programs for teenagers in grades 6-12. There are outreach opportunities, weekend retreats, and youth leadership opportunities. Click here to learn more.
