The Rev. Canon Charles LaFond, the Canon for Congregational Life in the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire, will be our guest preacher at the 9:00 am and 11:15 am services on Sunday, November 15. Charles has previously lived as a monk at the monastery of the Society of St. John the Evangelist in Cambridge where he provided spiritual direction and led retreats. His current ministry combines a decade as a fund raiser and a second decade as a priest and monk. A “Canon” is the term reserved for a minister who works directly for a Bishop in the Episcopal Tradition. Charles was also a Chaplain to the Disaster Mortuary Unit (DMORT) in Louisiana during Hurricane Katrina where he ministered to a 600 staff mortuary unit made up of morticians and scientists of all religious background and no religious background. A master potter of 25 years, Charles lives on a secluded farm with a pottery studio in Webster, New Hampshire with his black lab named “Kai,” some chickens, a few hives of bees and the welcome of many friends.
