Stewardship News!
Thursday, 15 December 2011 17:30

Hallelujah — and how high might we go?

Thanks be to God and to the nearly 600 of us who have made pledges. We are thrilled to be able to report: we have met our 2012 stewardship goal of $2.25 million set by the Vestry! We celebrate with Gratitude to God Together being able to count on what the Vestry budgeted for a solid, growing program year. Even still, if you’ve been considering but haven’t yet made a 2012 pledge... please do, and bless all of us with your support for an even more vibrant year of worship and witness to God’s great love than we’ve yet imagined could be possible! What surprises might God have in store for a Trinity where we’ve surprised ourselves by exceeding our annual goal for financial generosity? To pledge, contact Joan Mansfield Roberts by e-mail, or by phone, 617-536-0944 x355.

Help Us Save Cash: Pick Up Your Pledge Envelopes!
Have you picked up your pledge envelopes yet? Today is the last day pledge envelopes will be available in the Commons on Sunday morning, or in the Parish House during the rest of the week. Picking up your pledge envelopes at church saves Trinity significant postage fees. Please help the Stewardship Office continue to be good stewards of Trinity’s resources!

"Christ Preaching": The History of Trinity's Famed Window
Monday, 19 September 2011 16:15

Artist John La Farge's "Christ Preaching" (1883)—newly returned to the church after a multi-year restoration—is Trinity Church's crowning glory and one of the artist's most significant windows. In 1893 the French critic Samuel Bing (perhaps most famous for coining the term art nouveau) declared that this window's "astonishing brilliance surpasses in its magic anything of its kind in modern times." In this window La Farge combined several of his most innovative features, most notably faceted orbs of blue and green which fill the west wall with an ever-present and glimmering sky. "Christ Preaching" continues to astound observers and is ranked among the finest works in stained glass.

Sign Up for Fall Inquirers' Class
Thursday, 18 August 2011 12:56

Are you curious to explore the mystery of God and the generous Christianity we practice here at Trinity?  Come join us in the Fall Inquirers' Class.  This class will help you journey more deeply into God, Jesus, the Bible, the Church, and things that matter.  The class invites your questions about faith, and is created for all seekers - those who know absolutely nothing, those who have been church-damaged, or those who haven't examined their faith in a long time.

Whether you're new to Trinity and Christian faith, or have been a lifelong Episcopalian, this class may be just right for you. Last year, various students said this class was: "Fun!" "Engaging and thought-provoking" "A class with no judgments" "A class of immense impact—it has allowed me to move closer into a relationship with God that feels freeing."

Friday, 08 July 2011 00:00

July 7, 2011

Dear Friends,

James Coakley was 17 when he died of gunshot wounds on Monday night. He was a victim of a culture of violence that has left 24 people dead this year and thousands more wounded, traumatized, grieving and scared.

The press is quick to label James. But no label can come close to describing the 17 year-old who participated in Trinity's Street Potential program this year. We'd like to tell you about him.
