We invite you to use these Bible passages as starting points for reflection. We hope that you will find them helpful as you prayerfully consider your response to God’s generosity this year.
Settle into a comfortable space, then take a few deep, centering breaths. Now read the passage of the day aloud three times. Slow down with each reading, letting the words sink in. What do you notice? What words leap off the page? Do you feel anxious? Inspired? Guilty? Beloved? Spend some time reflecting on what the Holy Spirit might be saying to you through the day’s reading.
You’ll notice that the verses remain the same each week. Take this opportunity to return to a passage, reflecting on new insights over time. Ask God to journey with you as you discern your pledge to Trinity in the coming weeks.
Sunday
John 13.34
I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.
Monday
1 Chronicles 29.14, 16
But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand, O Lord our God... all of it belongs to you.
Tuesday
Acts 20.35
In all things I have shown you that by so toiling one must help the weak, remembering the works of the Lord Jesus, how he said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Wednesday
Deuteronomy 8.17-18
You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me!” But remember the Lord our God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.
Thursday
1 Peter 4.8, 10
Above all, maintain constant love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins. Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.
Friday
1 Timothy 6.18-19
They are to do good, to be rich in good works, generous, and ready to share, thus storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of the life that really is life.
Saturday
Colossians 3.16-17: Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
