Encounter the Canticle

On most Sundays at 9:30 am, (prior to 9:45 Worship from Home), the music staff will host a Zoom session to introduce a new hymn or canticle that will then be featured in the service.
On many Sundays we've sung the canticle Dignus es (A Song to the Lamb) to a setting by Calvin Hampton (1938-1984). Today's closing voluntary is also a Hampton piece: Trumpet Tune. Richard will explore the life and work of this colorful composer who was music director at Manhattan's Calvary Church -- a brilliant organist who died too young.
