Meet the Hymn: Get Smart

On most Sundays at 9:30 am, (prior to 9:45 Worship from Home), the music staff will host a Zoom session to introduce a new hymn or canticle that will then be featured in the service.
Christopher Smart (1722-1771) penned the text for today’s glorious closing hymn, “Awake, arise, lift up your voice.” We’ll explore with Richard the impact of this brilliant yet troubled author, who was in an out of asylums and debtor’s prisons for the last 15 years of his short life.
