Stewardship 2021

October 13, 2020

Dear friends,

Welcome to Stewardship 2021 at Trinity Church in the City of Boston!

As we head deeper into this beautiful New England fall and our church’s Program Year, we also enter that time when we collectively and prayerfully consider our Stewardship commitments for the coming year. In 2020, we have all experienced many new ways of being Trinity Church together, and we, your Stewardship Co-Chairs, along with the whole Stewardship Committee, have thought differently about how we can reimagine the spiritual and practical elements of this important season.

With that, we are excited to announce our Stewardship theme: “Renewing a Home for Faith.”  This year’s Stewardship programming will run from October 18 to November 14 – four weeks of engaging activities, formation, and worship. Each week, we will send an overview of important information about the Sundays and weeks ahead:

Receiving Your “Home For Faith Kit”

Imagine a brigade of “Pony Express” riders (or maybe more aptly for our city, a cavalry of Paul and Pauline Reveres!) setting off from Copley Square and bringing a bit of Trinity into the wider world! Well, the 2021 Stewardship Committee is coordinating hand-delivery of Stewardship “Home For Faith Kits” to as many in-state parishioners’ homes as we can.

You can expect to receive your Kit between Monday, October 19, and Saturday, October 24.  Please trust that this will be a no-contact delivery. Your fellow parishioner will knock, place your Kit on your doorstep, wave hello if you are home, and then head to their next happy stop.

We hope this simple, tangible reminder – shared hand-to-hand and heart-to-heart – will be an encouragement to you. Even so, you are welcome to opt-out of hand-delivery, update your address, and/or provide special drop-off instructions, by clicking here and completing this form by Friday, October 16.

Making Your Pledge

For those new to the idea of “Stewardship,” during this season at Trinity, we invite the people of our congregation to make a financial commitment for the upcoming year. We call that commitment a “pledge,” and our pledge is a promise that we will make a priority of our relationship with God. Our pledge partners us in the reconciling, saving work of the Church. Our pledge grafts us into a movement greater than ourselves, an undertaking greater than what any one of us could accomplish alone. Our faithful pledge confirms our share in every ministry of this remarkable congregation.

We invite you to make your pledge as soon as you are ready. While we will share moments in our worship when you can make your pledge “in communion” with others, we welcome you to make your pledge here on the secure page of our website at any time, or to mail your hardcopy Pledge Card in the church-addressed envelope you will soon receive in your Kit.

Readying for Sunday, October 18

During each worship service of the Stewardship season, we will incorporate a video from members of the parish, sharing about Trinity’s meaning in their lives. These testimonials will begin this Sunday, and we look forward to adding these enhancements to our prayers.

During Formation time at 7 pm, our Treasurer, Olie Thorp; Assistant Treasurer, Jeff Taggart; and our Rector, Morgan Allen; will present an overview of our parish expenses – both a reflection on our 2020 budget performance, and our goals for 2021.

Looking Ahead

For “Spire Sunday” on October 25, click here to share photos of your personalized Trinity Church spire to signal that you have made your pledge, and to invite others to do the same. We invite you to decorate the spire you will receive in your Kit with words, drawings, or collaged images expressing how Trinity Church is a home for you. We will then share these images (on our website, in parish emails like this one, and via social media) throughout our Stewardship season.

For our All Souls worship in the morning of November 8, click here to share photos of those deceased family and personal friends you will be remembering on this special day. We invite you to share 3-5 photographs (one photo of each person). These images will be threaded into the visual presentation of our Choirs’ singing of Duruflé’s Requiem that day. Deadline for this submission is noon on Tuesday, November 3.

In Conclusion

We are excited to embark on this season as a community, when we will pray together, learn together, and, we hope, you will join us in making a pledge to Trinity Church for 2021. Please know our prayers are with you this season and always, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Warmly,

Kathy Sheehan and Tim Kelly

2021 Stewardship Committee Co-Chairs
