Summer Sundays Hospitality and Events

June 27, 2023

Join us for summer fun following various services in July and August! Our weekly 9 am Coffee and Conversation will be on hiatus through September 3, but we have plenty to keep you connected and feeling the summer joy in the meantime—mark your calendars!

July 2
Following 9 am: It’s All Fun and Games—BINGO in the Commons

Bring out your inner/ faithful/ humble/ mercy-seeking/ justice-bearing (ahem, *competitive*) spirit and join in the centuries-old tradition of Church Folk Playing Bingo! Following the 9 am service, we’ll call letters and numbers in the Commons (downstairs from the Sanctuary), and even have prizes for winners- all and every age invited! Get your best ‘BINGO!’ celebration ready!

Families should feel free to join in the fun, knowing their littlest ones are having their own fun in the nursery. The Nursery will be open for children 4 and under.

July 16
Following the 9 am: Celebrating Manny Piazza's Ministry as Interim Assistant Director of Music at Coffee Hour in the Commons
11:15 am: Prayer Ministry Labyrinth Walk, Rose Kennedy Greenway

Pray as you go! The Prayer Ministry Team invites you to join them walking the Labyrinth at the Armenian Heritage Park on the Rose Kennedy Greenway. We will meet at the West Porch of the Church at 10:30 am, and make our way via T (or by walking!) to the labyrinth. Bring a hat/ water/ sunscreen, as there is little shade at this site. Labyrinths offer a 'movement prayer' as we walk through them—there is no beginning or end (it’s not a maze!), just a journey that brings you back to the starting point—hopefully a bit differently than when you set out. Come and join us!

Following the 5 pm: Celebrating Manny Piazza with Lemonade and snacks in the Commons

July 23
Following the 9 am: It’s All Fun and Games: Christmas in July

In the bleak mid-summer, sweltering rays they shone;
steam arose from concrete, motivation like a stone.
Ice cream offered solace; so did pools and corn;
Still in the hot mid-summer, Jesus is born.

Join us in the Undercroft for some air-conditioned holiday fun! Please bring a batch of Christmas Cookies to share (or last year’s fruit cake!) and we’ll enjoy some crafts, carols, cookie decorating and Christmas Spirit! Seasonal/ festive/ ugly sweater attire optional!

Families should feel free to join in the fun, knowing their littlest ones are having their own fun in the nursery. The Nursery will be open for children 4 and under.

July 30
Following the 9 am: T-n-T Summer Brunch + Club 45 Donut Breakfast

Join the Twenties and Thirties (T-n-T) for brunch at Stephanie's on Newbury Street following the 9 am service. Enjoy conversations with one another and dive into some appetizers provided by Trinity! Meet on the steps facing Copley Square to walk over as a group right after service.

Club 45 (4th & 5th-graders) are invited to a donut breakfast following the 9 am service. Designed specifically for their pre-teen life, Club 45 offers kids the chance to be with and have fun with one another, learn more about God and who they are in God, and discover ways to grow in faith and community.

August 6
Following the 9 am: Storytelling on St. James

Did you know that Trinity parishioners offer guided tours of the sanctuary as part of our ministry welcoming visitors throughout the week? We do! Tour Guides tell the stories of how the congregation came to this space, and the hows and whys behind why Trinity Church is—well, Trinity Church! Join veteran parishioner Tour Guides following the 9 am service for one of their guided tours, and see what happens on the other six days of the week in the church! Nursery care from birth through 4 years old available at this time.

August 13
Following the 9 am: Welcome new Associate Director of Music, Jerrick Cavagnaro, in the Commons

August 27

Following the 9 am: Acolyte Training

Calling all 6th- 12th graders! The new ministry year begins soon, and this means WE NEED YOU! All current and aspiring acolytes must be trained for the new year. Our Acolyte Ministry plays a pivotal role in our Sunday services. Come learn the updated practices and all the fun that being an acolyte is about. Youth will meet by the Phillips Brooks statue in the sanctuary after the 9 am service. Please contact Katrina Leslie at kleslie@trinitychurchboston.org if you or your youth is interested in attending this training.

12 pm: T-n-T Bagel Fellowship

Join the Twenties and Thirties (T-n-T) for another summer gathering! To accommodate those T-n-T members participating in ministry trainings, we will all convene in the Ferris Library at Trinity for bagels at noon.

Sept 3 (Labor Day Weekend)
Following the 9 am: It’s All Fun and Games: Games on the Grass (tentative)

Families should feel free to join in the fun, knowing their littlest ones are having their own fun in the nursery. The Nursery will be open for children 4 and under.
